Whispering Beard Folk Festival is a three day music festival heading into its 5^th year. Without the help of any corporate sponsors, WBFF depends solely on word of mouth and a commitment to its fans to bring some of the best local and national talent in the Folk/Americana genre of music. Going into its 2^nd year at Friendship, Indiana’s Old Mill Campground this August 24^th, 25^th, and 26^th, WBFF has quickly gained traction as being one of the Midwest’s premier outdoor music festivals.

Based out of Cincinnati, WBFF started as a small backyard hootenanny in front of 150 fans, the foundation of whom are now known as Beardos. While the festival has grown considerably over the years, bringing to their stages the likes of Guy Clark, Peter Rowan, Hayes Carll, Todd Snider, Trampled by Turtles and the Hackensaw Boys as well as over 100 other performers, those 150 original “Beardos” have turned into well over 2,000. Thank you for all of your support and help in making 2010 a successful year for all of us here at WBFF. We can’t wait to show you what we have planned for 2011! But, before we can get into all the new and exciting ventures we have planned for y’all, we’re here today to clarify a few rumors that have been flyin’ around all the internet water coolers.

The Whispering Beard Folk Festival will not be held at Thornhill Farms in 2011. The premise of The Whispering Beard Folk Festival has, and will always be, the notion that great talent, great art, and great music should always be within the grasp of great common people. The idea did not stem from a yearning to make a profit or the need for some great payoff in the end. The idea was spurred on by something greater, a
possibility. The possibility that the art, talent, music, and the community of it all, could prosper; even if only for three days, into a vision we could all believe in. Read more
