Built around the songs of lead vocalist/guitarist Adam Forsthoefel, the band has been described as, “The Black Crowes meets The Red Hot Chili Peppers”; careful listeners will also hear shades of everything from Stevie Ray Vaughan to the Killers.

The Grove’s origins were in the band SomeDaze, started by Forsthoefel and drummer Jeff Voegele, who attended high school together in Anderson, Ohio. SomeDaze quickly became one of the hot upcoming bands in Cincinnati, with performances at local clubs and festivals as well as several appearances on Cincinnati’s local news channel Fox 19. Electric Citizen, the Cincinnati-based four-piece who are currently in the midst of a European tour with Wolfmother, stream their forthcoming album, Higher Time (May 13, RidingEasy Records), via Noisey (http://noisey.vice.com/blog/electric-citizen-higher-times).

“Our music is not for a select group of cool kids,” said guitar player Ross Dolan in a recent interview with the Cincinnati City Beat, who described the 10-track album as “thunderously heavy” and “melodically nuanced.” “You know, the doom genre is only for doom fans, and it’s not going mainstream. Electric Citizen, All Seeing Eyes, Leggy on Saturday, Dec 26th at Northside Tavern

Electric Citizen​ is back home after just finishing their sophomore album in Nashville at Dan Auerbach’s (of The Black Keys) Easy Eye Studios with Producer Brian Olive and Mix Engineer Collin Dupuis. The new album is expected to be released spring of 2016 on California based label RidingEasy Records.

Since their debut album, Electric Citizen has spent the majority of 2014 & 2015 touring with acts such as Pentagram, Fu Manchu, Wolfmother, Budos Band and supporting acts such as Joan Jett, The Cult, and King Diamond. This past July they also played their first month ­long headlining tour. As they await the release of their new album, they are excited to be playing their first hometown gig in months. Read more

Those Darlins – who formed in 2006 and gained world-wide recognition with their critically acclaimed self-titled album 2 years later – have announced today that they are taking an “indefinite hiatus.”  The band’s statement follows.  Those Darlins have also booked a final round of tour dates which kick off January 15 inChattanooga, TN.  The tour includes a show at Brooklyn’s Baby’s All Right onJanuary 23 and their final show will be January 29 in Nashville at The Basement.  The full tour is listed below.  Also today Those Darlins share their last single – their take on Divine‘s single “Female Trouble” which is the most perfect of good-byes from the band.
