MARK UTLEY & BULLETVILLE performs straight-up Country music in the classic style. Originally formed as an offshoot of Magnolia Mountain, the band has now come into its own as a powerhouse live and studio outfit. The band features MM’s Mark Utley, Renee Frye, Jeff Vanover, and Todd Drake, joined by bassist Ken Kimbrell, world-renowned keyboadist Ricky Nye and award-winng pedal steel guitarist John Lang. Bulletville plays a combination of Mark’s original songs augmented by a great selection of classic Country covers by the likes of Waylon Jennings, Tammy Wynette, George Jones, Loretta Lynn, Gram Parsons, and more.
Bulletville served as the backing band for Mark Utley’s debut solo album, Four Chords and a Lie, released in July 2013. The band has booked studio time at Ultrasuede Studio in November 2014 to record a full-length Bulletville album with The Afghan Whigs’ John Curley producing, to be released in early 2015.

The Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra and Music Director Louis Langrée announce the reprisal of the wildly popular One City, One Symphony initiative, designed to bring people together through music. The Orchestra, along with dozens of community partners, will provide opportunities for audiences to connect and discuss music in-depth, leading up to the CSO’s performances on November 14, 15 & 16, 2014 at Music Hall. This year’s program centers around the theme of “Heroes,” culminating with Mahler’s expansive First Symphony, known simply as “Titan.” Also on the program are Beethoven’s Coriolan Overture, as well as the Hymne à la justice, written by French composer Albéric Magnard (who became a national hero when he died defending his home and family from German soldiers in World War I).
One City, One Symphony will again feature community listening parties, dozens of community partners and collaborations, educational materials, radio broadcasts and more. Read more
Showman Pokey LaFarge is pleased to announce the Central Time Tour, a traveling variety musical experience. Performers joining Pokey on tour include “American songster” and founding member of the Carolina Chocolate Drops Dom Flemons, sounds from the Bayou with Joel Savoy, Jesse Lege, and the Cajun Country Revival, Cincinnati’s roots outfit The Tillers, and blues and roots from St. Louis with The Loot Rock Gang. “I’ve always been inspired by the revue tours of the mid-twentieth century. These tours sent a caravan of musicians, often from the same record label, to towns across America – big and small – for an evening of music and dancing.” says Pokey LaFarge. The tour will exhibit the show format of mid-century traveling revue tours and caravans, sure to be a one-of-a-kind experience for fans.
Showgoers are certainly in for an exciting evening, and an education will also be unavoidable for some. LaFarge says, “With the Central Time Tour, I want to broaden the appreciation of what it is that makes the Midwest a special place. I want to turn people on to quality music they wouldn’t likely hear on the radio. I want to celebrate our diverse American traditions, and above all, give the good people of the Midwest no choice but to dance, sing and put their minds at ease when the Central Time Tour comes to town.” Read more

Runner of the Woods Debuts First Single “Good Things will Come” From Forthcoming Album“While frontman Nicolas Beaudoing, may not be the household name – well, in some households, at least – as [A.A. Bondy, Anders Parker and Jay Farrar], he’s certainly a talent on par with them.” –Popmatters
Good things will come – and not a moment too soon. For Nick Beaudoing, the front man of Nashville, Tennessee’s Runner of the Woods, much of 2014 was spent in the shadow of a serious family illness. Between visits to his hometown of Dallas, Texas, he stayed busy in the studio. One night while listening to rough mixes of his work on the drive home, he had a gut feeling that things would somehow work out. “I’ve never had the experience of listening to my own music and being cheered up,” Beaudoing says. “It felt like a pat on the back at just the right time.” Read more
