The hook-heavy rock band Buffalo Killers officially announced that the release date of their new record Fireball of Sulk will be 11/24. The group gave their fans an “early bird” special last week, notifying each one by email that the record was available for pre-order. Today, they partner with Relix.com for the official announcement and to premiere the music video for their song “Weird One.”

‘Fireball of Sulk’ was recorded during the non-ending winter of 2013/14 in Northern Ohio,” says vocalist/bassist Zach Gabbard. “We missed the first day due to an ice storm. Andy and I had written and recorded demos for the boys and listened to them on the way to the studio. It was the first exposure for Joey and Sven. We locked ourselves in the studio for 3 days to rehearse and record and filmed the entire experience.” Read more

Black 47 have played more gigs at Shea Stadium than The Beatles, shut down the city of Hoboken, appeared multiple times on Leno, Letterman & O’Brien, and most recently the Jimmy Fallon Show for St. Patrick’s Day goo.gl/ljb2DW. Led by Irish author, playwright, and SiriusXM radio host, Larry Kirwan, Black 47 play a uniquely Irish form of rock ‘n’ roll that touches on many social and political issues, and yet is never less than entertaining and riveting. After 2500 shows and 14 CDs the “house band of New York City” will disband in November 2014 exactly 25 years later. Read more

Voodoo Loons Guarantee Their Free Album Is Better Than U2′s Free Album

Eclectic Indie/Alt Rock trio Voodoo Loons (who claim residence in both Cincinnati, OH and Donegal, Ireland) are guaranteeing that their latest album, The Criminal Ear, is better than Songs of Innocence, the new U2 album Apple recently spammed 500 million iTunes accounts with.

“It’s been a few weeks now”, explains Loons guitarist/singer Dennis O’Hagan, “we’ve had a chance to listen to Songs of Innocence and let it soak in. Not to be cocky, and with all due respect to U2… but The Criminal Ear is simply a better album. It sounds better, the songs are better, and we’re sure people would agree if only they’d hear it for themselves… But in today’s environment, that’s the trick, isn’t it?” Read more

On April 29, 2014, the debut album from Sonny Knight & The Lakers, I’m Still Here, was released by Secret Stash Records on LP, CD, and digitally.

In person, Sonny Knight defies his 65 years of age. When he talks, his low gravely voice betrays the roundness of his singing. His smile and gestures radiate youthful energy with the reassuring confidence of a captain or pilot; they bring a sense of ease rather than being brash. He is a natural performer, even on a cold Thursday night in Secret Stash’s basement recording studio. Standing in a rehearsal room, framed by old guitar amps, instruments, and blanket covered walls, Sonny stands up to the mic to lay down the vocal track for “I’m Still Here (Pt. 2).” Despite his drab surroundings, eyes closed, he performs for an invisible audience. His body moves in rhythm, arms jabbing like a boxer before a fight. Read more
