Local musician, Kelly Thomas, is kicking of a very ambitious undertaking on September 1, 2012.  Her new series, Sacred Harp Sessions, will feature Thomas singing 12 songs with 12 of her favorite local bands.  The series will reach people by way of Videos that will include a short introduction sharing some of the great things happening in our music community and will end with a performance of the selected song with the guest band.  The first video is scheduled to drop on September 1, 2012.  You will be able to view the video either at Thomas’s website www.kellythomasonline.com or on her YouTube channel KellyThomasMusic.  100 free downloads of the song will be available as well.  50 on the website and 50 at The Madison Theater show in the form of postcards with a download code.  The first episode in the series features Thomas talking about King Records and Herzog Studios.  Thomas recorded the Hank Williams classic “Lost Highway” with Arlo McKinley and The Lonesome Sound live at the current Herzog space.  The session was engineered by Elton Clifton and Brian Jester and captured on video by Alex Luscht of Mind Ignition.  Luscht will be overseeing the video project.  Thomas is also receiving support from The All Night Party and hopes to release the entire collection on CD and vinyl at the end of series.

It just worked out perfectly that Arlo McKinley and The Lonesome sound and Kelly Thomas and The Fabulous Pickups have a show at The Madison Theater that evening!  Thomas and fiddle player, Sylvia Mitchell will be joining Arlo McKinley during their set to perform “Lost Highway”.

The lineup also includes a rare performance by The Great Depression; Tim Carr (Arlo McKinley and The Lonesome Sound) and Jeremy Pinnell (Jeremy Pinnell and The 55s).  Both Carr and Pinnell have new bands but they will be performing a set of their much loved acoustic based songs from their duo, The Great Depression.  Finishing out the evening are local Americana Rockers, The Sleepin’ Dogs.
