Critically acclaimed singer/songwriter/violinist Amanda Shires will perform at The Southgate House Revival on December 1 in support of her celebrated new release To The Sunset. Her second album with Grammy award-winning producer Dave Cobb represents an adventurous move for Shires, with an edgier sound and attitude. She continues to push herself artistically and sonically, but the spotlight always shines brightly on her unmistakable songwriting style and emotive and distinctive vocals. The album has received tremendous support from the press, including Entertainment Weekly, UPROXX, American Songwriter, NYLON and more. Shires was recently featured on the cover of Garden & Gun Magazine.

To The Sunset is a compelling collection of narratives often told from a female perspective. The themes range from grappling with self-esteem to mental illness and addiction, as well as the power of a changed perspective, with a dash of Shires’ signature wit (listen to “Eve’s Daughter” via Rolling Stone Country). She has a penchant for delivering stories in ways that are intelligent and poetic yet thoughtful and warm, approaching the subjects in her songs with a fearless honesty (hear “Leave It Alone” via American Songwriter). To The Sunset represents an extension of artistic growth for Amanda Shires, as she continues to challenge herself as an artist and songwriter. Recorded at RCA Studio A, the new album finds Shires joined by a few special guests including Jason Isbell (guitar), Dave Cobb (bass) Peter Levin (keys), and Jerry Pentecost (drums).

To The Sunset is the follow up to Shires’ critically acclaimed 2016 release My Piece Of Land, which garnered high praise from press including Rolling Stone Country, Entertainment Weekly, Paste Magazine and Southern Living, as well as the cover of the Nashville Scene. NPR Music said, “Shires is a virtuoso, and anyone who’s seen her front her own band or play in Isbell’s knows she can cultivate musical drama,” and Associated Press hailed her unique vocal style as “the voice of a performer fully invested in her material.” Capping off a banner year in 2016, Shires was also the recipient of the Americana Music Association’s Emerging Artist Of The Year Award and made her solo national TV debut on Austin City Limits.
