Athens based Ohio music and art collective Aquabear Legion will be releasing a double LP, vinyl compilation featuring over 20 Ohio bands in late Summer 2017. The group just launched an Indiegogo page to fund the project through a pre-order, featuring not only the record release but also limited edition posters, colored vinyl, and more. Aquabear Legion Volume 6 will be the collective’s 12th release and second on vinyl, and features art from Athens’ own Tracy Duncan on two vinyl records. 20 of Ohio’s best bands including Bridesmaid, Day Creeper, Extra Medium Pony, Andy Gabbard, Brian Harnetty, SW Hedrick, Hex Net, Caitlin Kraus, Leggy, Mary Lynn, Natural Sway, Palestras, Adam Remnant, R. Ring, The Safeties, Smug Brothers, Swarming Branch, Talons’, The Village Bicycle, and Water Witches. Another band or two may still be announced. Music is included from Athens, Columbus, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Dayton, and Kent.
The entire project is curated, printed, pressed, designed, and played in Ohio. To help raise money we are offering not only pre-orders of the new compilation, but also t-shirts, colored vinyl, prints, hoodies, previous releases including records and more. Since 2004, Aquabear Legion has worked with over 250 bands and dozens of visual artists and filmmakers, producing 11 releases including compilations of Ohio music both physical and on aquabearlegion.com. In 2015, they released Aquabear Legion Volume 5, a double LP compilation with 24 Ohio bands and successfully funded the project through Indiegogo.
