Show Review – 11/21/2007 Chris Walker Benefit Show, 20th Century Theater

11.21.2007 – Chris Walker Benefit Show
20th Century Theater, Cincinnati, OH

review and photos by Scott Preston

What an incredible night of music. The 20th Century Theater was packed with people and a lot of money was raised for Chris Walker. There was a guitar, 2 amps, numerous autographed items, among many other things that were auctioned off. The Friends of Chris Walker were there in full force making sure everything was running smoothly. I also must say Angie did a great job of putting the silent auction together.

The hosts for the evening was Bootsy and Patsy Collins. They took the stage right before Freekbass performed to get the crowd excited. What impressed me was that Bootsy took the time to take numerous photos with fans and sign whatever they had. Bootsy and Patsy both then took in the funk for Freekbass’ entire set.

The music for evening was really impressive. The Animal Crackers (winner of the 2007 CEA in the Hip Hop category) started off the evening. Freekbass (winner of 2007 CEA in the Funk/R&B category) followed and thats when the dance floor really started to fill up. But it was really exciting to have the chance to see Shag perform again. I had the chance to see them perform back in the mid 90’s and again in 2005 when they reunited for a one night gig.

Overall a wonderful evening of music, seeing many friends and most importantly a lot of money was raised for Chris Walker. Please visit Friends for Chris Walker to keep up to date on upcoming Chris Walker Benefit shows.
