Brooklyn sax-and-drums dance music trio Moon Hooch bring their propulsive live show to Covington for a show at Madison Live! As Last.fm declared, Moon Hooch are “an unexpected and unintended alliance of two saxophones and drums who at their core have pureed a house, dance, drum and bass, jazz, world, and classical music into something seamless, fresh and new.”

The energy is high for Moon Hooch, comprised of horn players Mike Wilbur and Wenzl McGowen and drummer James Muschler. Fresh off a national tour with Beats Antique, the band has seen their fanbase grow exponentially since they first burst on the scene as subway buskers, mesmerizing onlookers with their frenetic, impassioned sound that turned subway platforms into impromptu dance parties. Since then they’ve released two studio albums, which both reached theBillboard “Heatseeker” chart, and have just recently found themselves playing a very special performance at St. John Cathedral Of The Divine, the world’s largest cathedral. Earlier this year they were invited to speak and perform at theTED Talks 2015 convention in Vancouver.  Plans are in the works for a new album to be released in early 2016.

Moon Hooch’s approach to performance, uniting elements of jazz, rock and electronic dance music is described by the band as “cave music, like house music, but more primitive and jagged and raw.” It’s drawn fans from Brooklyn to Europe and beyond, selling out shows coast to coast in the U.S., while receiving praise from the likes of NPR, New York Magazine and Village Voice, among others.
