Passafire, one of the leading reggae-rock bands in the US, are back home after over three months on the road for their debut European Tour which brought the four-piece to Germany, Austria, Switzerland, the UK, Italy, Czech Republic, Netherlands and Slovenia. This was their first time touring outside of the US after almost a decade of exhaustive touring here and has helped build the foundation for a new European fan base, setting the band up for a follow up tour next summer.

Now the band is poised to begin The Getaway Tour, which will bring them to much more familiar ground, as Passafire returns to the East Coast and Midwest for 25 shows between October 2 – November 21, including a kick off at their second appearance at Cali Roots’ Carolina Sessions (in Myrtle Beach, SC). Joining Passafire will be Maryland’s hard rock/reggae band Lionize and their new friends from across the pond (and Easy Star Records label mates), Cornwall, England’s Backbeat Soundsystem, who will make their US debut on this tour. Backbeat and Passafire paired up for 5 shows in the UK in August, so this is a quick reunion for the two groups, who already have grown close with each other.

While in Europe, Passafire continued to work on material aimed at a new album release in 2016, following up on their 4-song EP Interval, which was released this past spring. They also took time to work with German producer Umberto Echo to cut a new version of the song “Feel It,” which originally appeared on the band’s very first record in 2006. That song comes out as a stand-alone single Oct 9 and is an interesting update, showing off both the band’s much improved skills developed in the past decade, as well as an interesting collaboration with a major European producer. “Interval was much more of a rock record than we’ve done in the past,” says lead singer/guitarist Ted Bowne. “When we were playing for these new audiences in Germany, we wanted to find a way to connect on the reggae end in a way we hadn’t in a while, and the chance to work with Echo really brought that old song of ours into an interesting new place.”

Passafire will continue to work on new material throughout the fall and hit the studio to lay down new tracks as soon as possible, which is no surprise to longtime fans of this creatively-restless and hard-working band. In the meantime, the band looks forward to hitting old haunts and new markets, and to see members of their fast-growing Passafire Army of fans on the road.
