What people had to say about “Mistaken for Strangers”:

“The funniest, most meta music movie since SPINAL TAP.” – Pitchfork

“The finest rock doc since Anvil: The Story of Anvil. Matt Berninger, lead singer of the National, is a 40ish indie-rock star who carries himself like a hip lawyer. When he asks his slacker brother, Tom, to come on tour as a roadie, Tom turns the gig into a film about crawling out from under his brother’s shadow. Imagine a rock psychodrama starring Tom Hanks and Philip Seymour Hoffman”. – Entertainment Weekly

“A fresh revamp of the music-doc template, the National’s angsty songs are mere backdrop to a story whose true subjects are sibling love and rivalry and the thorny matter of creative success – here explored through the tension between achievement and striving, or, as one observer puts it, alpha male versus underdog.” – LA Times
