One-man-band Keller Williams is on tour this winter. In addition to evening theatre shows in Austin, Chicago, and Philadelphia, Keller has confirmed some special matinee performances/book signings in select markets. That’s right, book signings. Hand-in-hand with the release of Keller Williams’ sixteenth album — and first-ever album for kids and families — appropriately titled Kids, Keller once again breaks new ground with the November 30 release of his very first children’s book, Because I Said So (Fun Read Publishing, $20, for ages 2-8, 33 pages).

KIDS – Keller’s first album release for children and families – has already been warmly embraced by kids’ and music tastemakers:

“[Keller’s] big-hearted wit is perfectly suited to the songs on Kids, a record that will entertain children of all ages without talking down to them.” – All Music Guide

“Kids sparkles with invention.” – Technorati.com

“This is hands-down my favorite kids album of all time.” – Perfect Porridge

Keller’s children’s book, Because I Said So, is based on Keller’s song by the same name (included on Kids) and is enhanced by the cleverly drawn illustrations of Virginia artist Bill Harris. Because I Said So is humorous, colorful, heartfelt, and wise. Included with the book is a CD containing the song. Because I Said So is available at www.kellerwilliamskids.net.

Larry and Jenny were Keller’s partners-in-crime on his recent all-covers collection, Thief (May 2010 / SCI Fidelity Records). The album has been hailed as “impressive…. a great effort that’s bound to bring in a few more fans” (Blurt) and as “One helluva good time. One helluva good record” (My Old Kentucky Blog).

Thief includes songs originally written and recorded by as wildly diverse an assemblage as anyone’s ever likely to dream up. Thief offers up Keller-versions of songs by an [almost] unthinkable collection of artists: from Amy Winehouse (“Rehab”) to the Grateful Dead (“Mountains of the Moon”), the Butthole Surfers (“Pepper”) to Kris Kristofferson (“Don’t Cuss That Fiddle,” which opens the album, and “The Year 2003 Minus 25,” which closes the album). The set is filled out with tunes by Ryan Adams, the Presidents of the United States of America, the Raconteurs, Patterson Hood, Danny Barnes, Cracker, the Yonder Mountain String Band and Marcy Playground. All over the place, indeed, but that’s the way Williams likes it. And in his hands it all makes sense—like everything he’s ever touched, whether from his own pen or someone else’s, it all becomes Keller Williams’ music.
