CincyPunk Fest 10 Friday and Saturday, April 8 & 9, 2011 Southgate House Newport, KY

CincyPunk Fest, the city’s largest independent charity music festival, is taking over the Historic Southgate House in Newport, Kentucky on Friday, April 8 and Saturday, April 9. The event, which has raised over $32,000 since January 2005, will feature 39 established and up-and-coming local bands on three different stages during the two-night event. CincyPunk Fest 10 will feature everything from punk and indie rock, to hardcore, ska, country, folk, blues and everything in between. We’ll also have a special comedy set from up-and-coming local comedians, as well as a surprise reunited band performing on Saturday, April 9 in the ballroom.

A few other things you should know about this year’s festival. Nate Rosing, a local music blogger who runs BrokenMic.com, is taking over operations of the festival, passed down to him from his brother and CincyPunk founder, Adam Rosing. It is the tenth installment of the festival this year, which we like to think of as somewhat of a milestone, and we have aimed to make this year’s the best and most diverse yet.

We’re also excited to announce that for the first time ever we are offering presale tickets due to such a high demand. Every year the festival has sold-out and we really hate to have to turn people away at the door, so we highly recommend anyone interested in attending take advantage of this opportunity. Presale tickets are $10 and available now at the Southgate House, Shake It Records on Hamilton Avenue in Northside and online at http://www.ticketfly.com/calender/?q=cincypunk. Remaining tickets on the day of show will be sold at the venue door for $10 for those 21 and up and $13 for those 18-20. Anyone under the age of 21 who purchases a presale ticket will be charged an additional $3 at the door to make up for the cost. We’d also like to note that if you’re using a credit card when purchasing tickets you will be charged a small service fee.

CincyPunk 10 will benefit Save Our Stray Dogs, a non-profit dog rescue foundation, and Necco, a therapeutic foster care agency that aims to provide the best possible care to children and young adults in need. Past events have benefited Northern Kentucky’s Women’s Crisis Center, the Mental Health Association, Lighthouse Youth Services, the Animal Adoption Foundation and Camp Ernst’s YMCA Core Character Developmental Program, as well as helping with the medical bills of a local musician suffering from testicular cancer.
