The Cincinnati Pops Orchestra, under the direction of Conductor John Morris Russell, announces an exciting four-concert line-up for its annual summer series at Riverbend Music Center. All four concerts feature the full power of the world-renowned Cincinnati Pops performing favorite tunes across all genres. Mr. Russell conducts three of the four concerts.

The season kicks off on June 7 with the “Pops Orchestral Spectacular” which highlights explosive popular classics from Respighi’s Pines of Rome to Stravinsky’s Firebird to Debussy’s Clair de lune. On June 21, the world’s most sought-after jazz trumpeter (not to mention one of People Magazine’s “50 most beautiful people”), Chris Botti, returns to the Queen City, two years after a sold-out concert at Music Hall with the Pops.

Cincinnati’s favorite July 4 tradition also returns. In addition to patriotic standards, the versatile string ensemble Time for Three joins for an all-American celebration. Finally, the Pops presents a celebration of the best of Broadway on July 19 and invites audiences to sing along to their favorite theatrical hits.

Bring the family: Children 17 and under are admitted free to the lawn for all Pops concerts at Riverbend, thanks to the support of Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing North America, Inc. Pavilion tickets for children are just $12.50.

Pops Orchestral Spectacular
June 7, 2014, 8 p.m.
In a program designed to showcase the big, bold sound and versatility of the best Pops orchestra on the planet, the “Pops Orchestral Spectacular” features some of the most thrilling and dynamic works from the classical repertoire. With works from such popular composers as Tchaikovsky (1812 Overture), Mussorgsky (Pictures at an Exhibition), Copland (Fanfare for the Common Man) and Saint-Saëns (Carnival of the Animals), the Pops will be in full force with Mr. Russell on the podium. A Rozzi’s Fireworks display caps off this explosive evening.
Adult tickets for this performance start at $20, which includes parking. The Pops is grateful to Performance Sponsors Ernst & Young and Adleta Group.

Chris Botti – June 21, 2014, 8 p.m.
A winner of multiple Grammy Awards and named one of People Magazine’s “50 most beautiful people,” Chris Botti has established himself as one of the world’s top jazz trumpeters of our time. His most recent performance with the Pops completely sold out Music Hall, and his much-anticipated return promises to be just as exciting. He’ll provide a smooth, sophisticated evening of jazz with the full backing of the Pops Orchestra conducted by Mr. Russell.
Adult tickets for this performance start at $25, which includes parking. The Pops is grateful to Amica Mutual Insurance Company and Frost Brown Todd LLC as this concert’s Artist Sponsors.

Red, White and Boom! – July 4, 2014, 8 p.m.
Cincinnati’s favorite Independence Day celebration returns, delivering patriotic standards with full Pops power. With conductor David Charles Abell (who will also be conducting Cincinnati Opera’s Silent Night this summer), the Pops will also be joined by Time for Three, a string trio known as a “classically trained garage band.” The ensemble has gained wide popular appeal with its arrangements of Top 40 pop songs, bluegrass, classical and more. Soprano Jacqueline Echols once again lends her talents to the Pops stage, bringing to life the music of America. The concert caps off with a Rozzi’s fireworks display.
Ticketholders for this concert will also have complimentary access to Coney Island all day on July 4. Adult tickets for this performance start at $15, which includes parking.

Broadway Sing-Along – July 19, 8 p.m.
The summer Pops series at Riverbend would not be complete without a night celebrating the best hits from Broadway’s hottest composers and lyricists. Contemporary and classic Broadway favorites from shows like Jersey Boys and Sound of Music are brought to life by the Mr. Russell and the Pops. This year audiences are invited to sing along with vocal veterans Lisa Vroman and Darius de Haas and the May Festival Summer Chorus. The winning ensemble from ArtsWave’s “Cincy Sings” contest also adds to the line-up.
Adult tickets for this performance start at $20, which includes parking.
