Celtic Woman have just released their brand new CD/DVD EMERALD: MUSICAL GEMS (Manhattan Records), spotlighting newly reimagined performances of fan favorites from the group’s treasure chest of Celtic songs including the enchanting “She Moves Thru the Fair” and “Caladonia” and the ever-haunting “Danny Boy” and “The Voice”. Also featured are new interpretations of Celtic Woman’s inspiring performances of the beloved “Amazing Grace” and “You Raise Me Up”.
Celtic Woman are currently embarking on a 75-date North American Emerald concert tour that brings the audience to their feet every night with standing overations. Tune-in to your local PBS TV station to watch the Emerald: Musical Gems PBS special and pledge support during the March drive! Additionally, Celtic Woman will be featured on NBC’s TODAY Show Thursday March 6th.
The companion DVD, EMERALD: Musical Gems – Live in Concert, was filmed this past year on the doorstep of the University of Notre Dame, where it dazzled the family-friendly audience with a one-of-a-kind interactive concert experience. The performance showcases the group’s sparkling pure voices, bewitching choreography and fairytale charms along with the talents of a group of world-class musicians. Joining the women on stage are The Aontas Choir, bagpipers, and championship Irish dancers all under the direction of Emmy®-nominated music producer David Downes, former music director for Irish stage show Riverdance.
Celtic Woman’s eight CDs and seven DVDs have become multi-platinum best-sellers, making Celtic Woman the only all-female group to achieve multi-Platinum success in the classical crossover/world music genres over the past decade. The multitalented ensemble has sold more than eight million copies of its releases, all of which have debuted at #1 on Billboard‘s World Music chart.
USA Today premiered the live video for “Danny Boy” calling it “A prime example of the Irish folklore the group hopes to showcase through its music, along with modern twists.” View the video HERE.
