Alternative quintet, Hydra Melody has announced that they will be topping off their wildly successful 2013 touring as direct support for Third Eye Blind on their recently kicked-off tour on all dates from November 17th through December 1st. Hydra Melody’s unique blend of big sing-along catchy choruses, dynamic stage shows with subtle progressive and Latin, Santana-style underpinnings have attracted an enthusiastic fan base that stretches across the country. The band had an incredibly busy year, recently winning Summerfest 2013‘s “Land The Big Gig” Contest – earning the grand $20,000 prize and a major slot at this year’s festival.Full upcoming show details below.
About getting the opportunity to tour with Third Eye Blind, Hydra Melody bassist, Jason Harari says, “I can’t even describe how amazing it is to have the opportunity to be direct support for a band like Third Eye Blind and we can’t wait to show people what Hydra Melody is all about!” With 3 EPs, Day of the Dukes,Maybe One Day, and Self-Titled behind them, the eclectic South Texas sextet is indeed, finding the road before them more beautiful all the time.
Formed in 2005, Hydra Melody already has dozens of US tours and a tour in Mexico City under their belt, playing festivals including SXSW, the CMJ Music Marathon and Summerfest, and shows with bands including Minus The Bear, Tyler Bryant & The Shakedown, The Toadies, The Early November, Every Avenue and more. For years the band traveled together in a cramped seven passenger Ford Explorer. Without the help of a stage crew or roadie, and pulling their equipment out of an old trailer, they’ve remained committed to the road. “We complain, yet we’re so willing to be uncomfortable for weeks while out on the road, because there’s nothing like it,” says Jordan. “Traveling, playing music you love, with people you love and meeting new people everyday has definitely been a great experience and something I want to do the rest of my life.”
Hydra Melodyʼs memorable melodic strands, heartfelt and relatable lyrics, sophisticated arrangements and powerful presentation are catching the ears of fans and critics alike. Recently, the band spent 6 weeks in Austin, TX to focus on new material – coming out of the experience with 15 new songs they are eager to share. The band will be playing their new material out on tour with Third Eye Blind and plan to get into the recording studio shortly after tour for a spring 2014 full album release.
Hydra Melody consists of Jordan Berlanga (lead vocals/guitar/keyboard), Taylor Ferguson (lead guitar/vocals), Jason Harari (bass/vocals), Matt Gomez(drums) and Manny Prince (percussion/congas).
