The Cincinnati Pops Orchestra celebrates the highly anticipated 50th anniversary of suave secret agent James Bond at Music Hall. On Sunday, November 4 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, November 11 at 2 p.m., conductor John Morris Russell leads the Pops in performing iconic Bond themes and thrilling selections from classic espionage films in “Bond and Beyond.”
Guest vocalists Ron Bohmer and Capathia Jenkins lend their voices to the Pops to create a stealthy, sultry atmosphere worthy of Britain’s most famous Secret Agent. Mr. Bohmer is a graduate of Cincinnati’s School for the Creative and Performing Arts and has performed with the Pops on several occasions. Ms. Jenkins has numerous Broadway, off-Broadway, movie and television credits to her name and will be making her Cincinnati Pops debut.
Music selections include music from classic James Bond movies from every generation, from Dr. No to Skyfall and everything in between. Along with themes from such films as On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, From Russia with Love and Goldfinger, the Pops delivers phenomenal orchestrations of favorite “Bond songs,” penned by Paul McCartney (“Live and Let Die”), Sheryl Crow (“Tomorrow Never Dies”), Adele (“Skyfall”) and more. James Bond has appealed to the “inner-spy” in audiences for decades, and the Pops paints musical portraits to relive these classic cinematic moments as only the full Orchestra can do.
Patrons will enjoy a few special traces of 007 in Music Hall, such as a martini bar (shaken, not stirred, of course) in the lobby and the opportunity to spot a few Bonds and “Bond girls” walking around, setting the mood for the sophisticated music of espionage.
