Cincinnati, Ohio, August 31, 2012—MidPoint Music Festival (MPMF) has revealed the complete performer and venue schedule on its website, MPMF.com, and launched the vitaminwater player to coincide with the unveiling. Festival producers have also announced a number of special features and promotions to occur at and during the September 27-29 festival.
Dewey’s Pizza at Grammers
Every night of the festival, Dewey’s Pizza will be serving its pie by the slice from a booth positioned just behind the performance tent. As a DewMore Initiative, all proceeds from pizza purchased will be donated to Music Resource Center, a non-profit multifaceted teen center that uses recording and performing arts, as well as life skills mentoring to create a sense of empowerment and accomplishment in the urban community. CINCINNATI (8.30.12) – The 2012 Guinness Oyster Fest returns to Fountain Square on Saturday, September 1st for an evening of family-fun. From 5PM to 11PM, patrons can enjoy live performances from The Whompers, The Heavy Hinges (formerly known as Buckra), and Cincinnati’s favorite “rowdy Irish rock band”, The Unlucky Charms.
And what evening would be complete with one of Fountain Square’s wacky speed-eating contests? At 8:00PM, ten challengers will compete to see who can successfully consume thirty-six raw oysters in the least amount of time. The winner of the event will be crowned as the 2012 Oyster Eating Champion.
Organizers Laura Dolan, Laura Skaggs and local creative shop, We Have Become Vikings are proud to announce the inaugural Cincy Psych Fest. Held Saturday, October 20th, 2012 at Mayday in Northside, the festival will feature two stages of psychedelic and garage rock music performed by popular local and national acts. Organizers plan to announce the final lineup of bands and sponsors soon.
Inspired by the Austin Psych Fest, held annually in Austin, Texas, and dedicated to the re-surging genre, Cincinnati Psych Fest aims to pair bands steeped in the sounds of 60’s psychedelia, with those bending and melting the genre’s barriers in a more modern approach. Since the band’s formation in 2007, Paper Bird has been playing its joyful blend of indie folk, roots, and Americana to delighted audiences nationwide. Paper Bird toured extensively in 2012 to support Carry On, their most recent release (a live album), and has just announced fall tour dates with plans to release a remixed and re-mastered version on vinyl. In addition, the band is currently in pre-production for a new album, tentatively set for release in February 2013. Read more
Cincinnati, Ohio, August 29, 2012—MidPoint Music Festival (MPMF) has revealed this year’s Ladies First schedule presented by Bioré® Skincare two days prior to the announcement of the full MPMF schedule planned for August 31. Throughout the September 27-29 festival, Jackson Street in Over the Rhine will be known as the Bioré® Strip, and 15 female-led acts will play on two stages inside of the Know Theatre venue.
Bioré® Skincare, one of Cincinnati’s own Kao USA Inc. beauty care brands, is partnering with MPMF for a second consecutive year in a continuing effort to bring attention to the prominent role women play at the festival. Read more

Local musician, Kelly Thomas, is kicking of a very ambitious undertaking on September 1, 2012. Her new series, Sacred Harp Sessions, will feature Thomas singing 12 songs with 12 of her favorite local bands. The series will reach people by way of Videos that will include a short introduction sharing some of the great things happening in our music community and will end with a performance of the selected song with the guest band.
