These United States has debuted the first single “Dead & Gone” today from its eponymous new album, out on June 12th with United Interests. The s/t full-length was written and recorded throughout 2011 with 20 outside musical collaborators from coast to coast, serving as a culmination of bandleader Jesse Elliott‘s geographical aspirations. Inspired by the incredible mix of stories and people across the country, Elliott returned to Kentucky and New York over several sessions to longtime band partners J. Tom Hnatow, Justin Craig, and Robby Cosenza to make sense — and sound — of it all. Read more

Louisville, Ky. – AC Entertainment and The Forecastle Festival are excited to announce the initial lineup for the 10th anniversary of Forecastle. The three-day event will take place July 13 – 15, 2012 at Louisville’s scenic, award-winning Waterfront Park. The final Forecastle lineup will total more than 70 bands on five stages. As previously announced, Saturday headliners My Morning Jacket are collaborating with the producers on the sights, sounds and experiences of the entire festival weekend.
The 2012 event marks the 10th year of the festival, which began in 2002 as a small, free outdoor neighborhood event celebrating the Louisville music community. Since then, it has evolved into the one of the country’s premier multi-day summer festival destinations focusing on music, art, and environmental activism.
On March 30th, 2012 The Cla-Zels will release their second studio album In a Canyon, the follow-up to their successful debut I Own Hawaii. This time around the band has taken a decidedly roots-y turn, exploring country and blues territory with 10 new tracks, including “The Hurting’s On Me”, Metromix’s pick of the week last December.
Showcasing both male (Jason Erickson-lead guitar, vocals) and female (Joanie Whittaker-rhythm guitar, vocals) lead singer/songwriters, The Cla-Zels are known for the musical diversity evident on 2010’s I Own Hawaii. Drummer Brian Baverman (alum of MCA Recording Artists Frazier River) and Bassist Chris Barlow had not yet joined the band, and the songwriting duo relied on studio musicians to bring their first album to life. Stephane Wrembel Announces New Album, Origins, To Hit Streets May 15 – Performing at The Blue Wisp on 3/23
He’s been called “a revelation” by Rolling Stone. Woody Allen recruited him to score the theme for last year’s smash film Midnight in Paris, and he performed his original song “Bistro Fada” live during last night’s Academy Awards ceremony. Check out his red carpet interview with Oscars.com.
To say that French-born guitarist/composer Stephane Wrembel—who learned his craft among the Gypsies at campsites in the French countryside of Fontainebleau—has already had a remarkable career would be an understatement. But this virtuoso, who is now Brooklyn-based, has truly just begun to make his mark as one of the most original guitar voices in contemporary music. Read more
