Whether it’s Natalie Stovall’s breathtaking vocals and larger-than-life stage presence, her band’s turbo-charged, take-no prisoners live shows, or the collective unit’s barnstorming worldwide tours, Natalie Stovall and The Drive prove they are arena ready. A humble, charismatic entertainer with a trademark lion’s mane of big blonde hair, Natalie and her powerful vocals and sparkling fiddle leave audiences spellbound.

Although she can seem larger than life onstage, offstage she’s as down home and as easy-going as can be. One-on-one sincerity and a contagious personality just come naturally to this small town girl from Columbia, Tennessee. Make no mistake though, as soon as you put this small town girl in front of an audience – something spontaneous, mesmerizing, and explosive happens. (from Nataliestovall.com) Read more

Billy Joe Shaver’s finest songs prowl (“Hard To Be an Outlaw”) and punch (“Music City USA”) with welterweight fury. Evidence: The legendary outlaw’s seamless Long in the Tooth. Shaver’s first studio album in six years showcases a singular songwriter in absolutely peak form as he unearths his trademark truths around every corner (“Last Call for Alcohol,” “The Git Go”). “This is the best album I’ve ever done,” he says. “It’s just dangerously good. I expect it to change things and turn things around the way Honky Tonk Heroes did.” Read more

That first November 2011 night, when it all fell together, was just four friends who brought instruments to a shambling rehearsal space (or picked up what was there), along with something to drink and a curiosity about what might happen. The generation who has come of age in the new economy, already adept at shuffling jobs and get-bys, firmly acclimated to the diminished expectations that come with growing up somewhere the rest of the world assumes is nowhere. Which, in this case, is New Albany, Indiana. Read more

In the summer of 2010, Tim Harrington and Paul Wright were playing for spare change in Boston’s Faneuil Hall Marketplace. In a few short years since, Tall Heights has headlined packed listening rooms across the country, toured down to Austin, TX to showcase at South By Southwest Music Festival, and performed alongside national acts like Laura Marling, Ryan Montbleau, and Andrew Belle.

For the duo’s debut full-length effort, Man of Stone (May, 2013), Tall Heights hits the home studio, sinking deeper into the vast world they’ve meticulously built for two. The title track and first single, Man of Stone, recalls a time when cavemen documented day-to-day existence on the walls of their stone-sheltered dwellings. “Emblems of cavemen they taught me / the importance of typing in bold,” contextualizes the rest of the record and challenges a careful listener to view each song as a vital documentation of what is both banal and extraordinary. The record exists in a fire-lit, shadowy space for their growing army of fans to inhabit. After two powerful EPs, there has been a growing cry for more from these young artists, and Tall Heights delivers with an LP of grand vision and scale. (from Tallheights.com) Read more

In early 2013, the band began pre-production for what would become their debut full length album Heartland.  Taking several off-days and setting up a mobile studio wherever they could, the band narrowed their ever growing song list down to 20 songs and performed three shows where they gave their fans the opportunity to vote on which songs they wanted to hear on the record.  “We took that feedback along with the pre-pro tracks and sat down with Joe Viers (Dr. John, Eric Clapton, Bobaflex) to talk through the project.  We had recorded the Motor City Blood EP (released in 2012) with Joe at Sonic Lounge and developed a really good rhythm.  Plus Joe has been soaking in roots rock for a long time so it was a really natural fit to bring  him on earlier in the process as more of a co-producer” says Fox.  Read more

Interview with Abigail Rose – Performing at the Buckle Up Music Festival on 7/20

Abigail Rose

Abigail Rose

Abigail Rose

Abigail Rose performs at 2:45pm on 7/20
http://www.buckleupfestival.com

Growing up in Nashville provided Abigail with a solid platform and strong support network to begin her career as both a songwriter and performing artist. As she watched her friends’ parents achieve success in the industry, what most would consider a “crazy dream” seemed perfectly normal to Abigail. From Music Row to home studios and writing rooms, Nashville is a safe place for artists to create music, because it is appreciated and respected. It is where you hear the newest songs of your favorite artists because they trust the audience to try them out during a songwriting round or intimate show.

Abigail knows this first-hand, as it is always a struggle for her to choose which songs to play and very tempting to always play the newest. Whether it’s the newest song or one from her extensive catalog, Abigail catches the attention of her audience with her lyrics, impressive guitar playing skills, and strong voice. With her sixth offering, Savannah Road, DeMeyer gives the listener access to a special place in her mind. The title track is inspired by Gregg Allman’s book My Cross to Bear. The celebrated musician’s biography was DeMeyer’s companion and took her in all different, musical and emotional directions. It helped her feel connected to Georgia, the South, and in the process, connected to herself. Released in April 2014, Savannah Road intermingles acoustic steel and slide guitar, fingerpicking, gospel-tinged vocals and literary imagery. DeMeyer writes songs as weavers thread tapestries. Poetry laden with southern groove, her music transports to another place and time. A self-produced collection of 13 songs written mostly by DeMeyer and frequent collaborator and string-master Will Kimbrough, Savannah Road has been described as “gorgeous and greasy.” DeMeyer simply calls it “acoustic soul.” (from brigittedemeyer.com) Read more
