MidPoint Music Festival is pleased to once again sponsor MidPoint Indie Summer. This free concert series on Fountain Square, in collaboration with 3CDC, presents regional, national, and international acts for a night of live music each Friday from May 30 to August 29.
As part of the larger PNC Summer Music Series, fans looking for summer fun are promised 14 weeks of perfect excuses to hit the town and enjoy a cool lineup of bands each Friday. You can make an evening of it by taking advantage of food and drink vendors right on the Square, or by visiting the many nearby Downtown restaurants.
This year’s Indie Summer offers up a special mix of great live music experiences in a wide range of styles. Fans interested in the larger, 3-day MidPoint Music Festival will also want to attend these shows to catch the latest information, insider tips, and chances to purchase tickets to the September 25–27 event. “FLY RASTA,” the fifth studio album from six-time Grammy winner and Reggae icon Ziggy Marley was released today to all physical and online retail outlets via Tuff Gong Worldwide. Produced by Marley with additional production by Dave Cooley (J Dilla, Silversun Pickups), “Fly Rasta” features ten new tracks including the album’s infectious opening number “I Don’t Wanna Live On Mars,” and the uplifting lead single “Fly Rasta” which includes The Melody Makers’ Cedella Marley, Sharon Marley and Rica Newell.
Marley recently held a very special event at Sonos Studio in Hollywood, CA on Thursday, April 3rd that included a very intimate live performance and on stage Q&A to talk about the new release. Cincinnati Pops Orchestra Announces Addition Of Joe Henry To Line-Up For American Originals Concert & Live Recording
The Cincinnati Pops Orchestra announces another exciting addition to the line-up for its American Originals concert and live recording January 23-25, 2015. Singer-songwriter and multiple Grammy Award-winning producer Joe Henry will lend his talent to the program which honors the legacy of Stephen Foster.
Mr. Henry joins an all-star cast of performers, which also includes Rosanne Cash, Over The Rhine, Dom Flemons, Aoife O’Donovan, and the Comet Bluegrass All-Stars. He has written songs for Rosanne Cash, and produced albums for both Over The Rhine and Carolina Chocolate Drops, of which Dom Flemons is a founding member. Other collaborators include Madonna, Hugh Laurie, Blind Boys of Alabama, Spinal Tap, Allen Toussaint, Rodney Crowell, Solomon Burke and many more. In addition to his production collaborations, he has released thirteen of his own studio albums. An artist who draws from a broad swath of American musical influences ranging from blues, jazz and country, Mr. Henry has also scored music and written songs for various films and television shows. 3 Doors Down has announced Summer plans that feature additional “3 Doors Down Acoustic – Songs From The Basement” dates fueled by public demand alongside select plugged in electric dates at festivals in select markets. Fans have embraced and celebrated the band’s acoustic touring since they first began staging these performances in January featuring deep cuts and hits from their catalog of songs. Over the last few months, they have been “in the basement” digging up more gems to perform on these upcoming shows alongside their biggest hits. Limited VIP tickets featuring on stage seating will be made available offering the rare chance to “sit in the basement with the band” in this intimate, live setting. Swearin’ operates and shines like a well-oiled, pragmatic machine. Their complimentary personalities, solid work-ethic, and similar backgrounds in DIY punk, have helped them thrive. Formed in 2011 in Brooklyn, Allison Crutchfield (guitar) and Kyle Gilbride (guitar) had been making demos for nearly a year before inviting Keith Spencer (bass) into the equation. The trio eventually added longtime friend and Philadelphia resident Jeff Bolt on drums, releasing their demo EP What a Dump shortly thereafter.
The demo received instant praise from Brooklyn’s indie punk scene and beyond. It combined the sounds of Gilbride and Crutchfield’s prior bands (Big Soda and P.S. Eliot, respectively) while stretching into new territories of fuzzed guitars and compounded song structures. Read more
